The Sunday LSD group is for people who want to do a long run on the weekend. 'LSD' stands for Long Slow Distance. We normally do around 20km or so. What 'Slow' means is up to you - we generally don't run as one big pack, so you can set your own pace. Some people are content to trot along at six minutes per km, while others anything down to about five.
A couple of routes are difficult to navigate, or require someone to second us in a car, so on those we have to re-group from time to time. Faster runners must loop to the back on these runs (unless they don't mind standing around.)
You don't have to bring any refreshments with you to join us - we follow routes that have taps en-route.
People often join the LSD group if they want to train for a marathon. We've built up a fair bit of experience in that regard, so people can often gain from shared experiences. In summer, closer to Two Oceans and Comrades we usually have some options for doing extra distances over and above the normal 20km.
On the LSD blog (http://sunday-lsd.blogspot.com) you can find details about all the routes etc. We try to plan about 6 months in advance, barring minor adjustments. There is also a mailing-list if you prefer to receive weekly info about runs - details at the bottom of the blog.
This group does not have any discussions yet.
